The masthead positioning that I have chosen for this is a typical magazine layout. I based this particular flat plan on the typical conventions used by most magazine. The positioning of the masthead is also eye catching as its at the top of the page it will attract the readers eye flow and gives the cover a premium look. The reason magazines place their mastheads along the top is because in shops when magazines are stacked in display shelves the only part of the magazine you can see is the masthead, which basically makes it the most important part of the cover. The Masthead will be created in Photoshop and will be shown when I construct my magazine.
The main cover line will be in relation to the main image and will act as a caption to promote a main story and entice readers to read more.
The main image will be an image of an artist I photograph. The image will also follow typical conventions used by most magazines, it will take up to 80% of the page and will more than likely be a mid shot.
For the cover lines I will focus more on the language used whilst remembering there are no images to entice readers or eye flow for that matter I will have to use informal language to suit my target audience and attract readers.
As for the puff, it will be situated below the slogan in the top right corner above the main image. I will use this as a unique selling point for my magazine and will definitely attract eye flow as everyone loves anything that free.
The bottom right corner once again will follow with common conventions used by all magazines, this will be the barcode. Being such a minor feature it is vital to use up as little space as possible while maintaining an easily distinguished layout and not taking away from the look of the magazine.
At the bottom corner I will add a pull quote that over laps the main image and i am doing this to make my magazine more attractive and appealing.
in the two flat plan I made for the cover I liked its layout and conventions so for the second flat plan design I decided to keep it very similar to the first but I changed the layout etc. for e.g. I placed the cover lines at the opposite side as well as the main image and I also changed the positioning of the pull quote, puff and slogan.
